ABOUT
Jazz pianist Ted Brancato is a musician with four decades of experience in the music business. Since his early days, growing up in Seattle, WA, Ted has been actively performing, composing, arranging and recording music. Ted has performed and recorded with Houston Person, Ron Carter, Christian McBride, Milt Jackson, Ernestine Anderson and Paquito D'Rivera among others.
After 30+ years of working in the NYC area, Ted released his first solo album in 2013 entitled The Next Step (Origin Records 82649). The album contains 14 originals that span a stylistic palette from straight-ahead jazz to rhythm and blues and feature the artistry of Ron Carter on bass, Terry Silverlight on drums, and Matt Langley on sax. Ted's second album entitled Bicoastal (released in March 2017) contains 12 exciting new originals played by master musicians Lou Marini on sax, Lee Finkelstein on drums, Gregory Jones on bass, and Ben Williams on Trombone.
Ted says “I am an unabashed fan of melody, as I think you'll hear upon listening to any song on my albums. I also love music that moves you, either emotionally or physically, or ideally both. It is my hope that you will find songs here that move you deeply in some way!”
"Brancato has the articulation of great pianists like Bill Evans and Dave Brubeck..."
"Brancato and (Ron) Carter exhibit flawless interplay...the quality of the musicianship elevates it beyond the overused contemporary jazz label. The Next Step is an auspicious and welcome debut!
